WASHINGTON - The night that Sean Taylor was killed in his bedroom, he may have saved the life of his fiance and daughter.
His fiance is Jackie Garcia, the niece of actor Andy Garcia.
Late on Thursday night, Andy Garcia released his first statement about Taylor's shooting. "Taylor's heroic action on that tragic night saved their life and is a testament to his humanity and courage," he said.
Washington Redskins fans in Anacostia also had a chance to pay their respects to Taylor. A "Walking Book of Condolences" was available at the Anacostia Metro station Thursday evening. The idea was to give fans who didn't have transportation out to Redskins Park a chance to express their feelings. Sixty-three-year-old Willie Mae Cobb was one of the fans who showed up. She brought a poem that she had pasted on red cardboard along with newspaper photos of Taylor. Cobb said she really enjoyed Taylor's playing. She said he was a "beautiful person." Ten-year-old Jamal Hunter came with his brother, mother and father. Jamal said Taylor was "the best defensive player ever."
